U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel met with Denmark's Defense Minister Nicolai Wammen in Brussels Wednesday, the Pentagon said. "Secretary Hagel thanked Minister Wammen for his leadership and for helping our two militaries maintain a close relationship," Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said in a statement. "He also expressed his gratitude for Denmark's leadership and capabilities in the future transfer of chemical materials out of Syria." "The two leaders also discussed the importance of the Arctic. Secretary Hagel and Minister Wammen promised to continue to consult with one another as both nations explore ways to deal with the challenges of climate change in that region. They also discussed regional challenges in the Asia-Pacific, political unrest in Ukraine, and the NATO ISAF mission in Afghanistan," Kirby said.
