U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday condemned the slaying of dozens of students a day earlier at a college in northeast Nigeria and expressed hope that the perpetrators will be quickly brought to justice. "The secretary-general is deeply concerned about the increasing frequency and brutality of attacks against educational institutions in the north of the country," Ban's office said in a statement. "He reiterates that no objective can justify such violence." At least 29 teenage boys died in the attack by unidentified gunmen on the Federal Government college of Buni Yadi in Yobe state. The region has suffered attacks by the extremist Boko Haram group, which has targeted civilians, including students and worshipers, as well as members of government institutions and foreign nationals.
