U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday appealed to the international community to urgently deploy another 3,000 soldiers and police to Central African Republic (CAR) to re-establish order and protect civilians. "The security requirements far exceed the capability of the international troops now deployed," Ban told the U.N. Security Council. "We need more." The secretary-general proposed the additional forces be deployed "in the coming days or weeks" and urged they be equipped "with air mobility."
