Twenty people were killed and 28 injured Wednesday in explosions near a high-security government area in Baghdad, security officials said. According to dpa, the blasts hit locations on the perimeter of the Green Zone, an area that houses key government institutions and embassies, officials and witnesses said. Security forces spokesman General Saad Ma'an said the attacks were carried out by two suicide bombers wearing explosive belts. Initial reports had indicated two car bombs and a suicide attack. One of the blasts took place in a car park opposite the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, officials said. Security forces blocked streets leading into the Green Zone after the blasts. A car bomb later in the city's Khalani Square killed a civilian and injured four others, police said. In Baquba, 60 kilometers north-east of the capital, two civilians were killed and seven injured when a bomb exploded near a government building, police said.
