The Philippines on Tuesday braced for more rains from a low-pressure system after floods and landslides killed 42 people and displaced more than 203,000 in southern provinces last week, dpa reported. The weather bureau said the low pressure area, expected to be nearly stationary for the next couple of days, was causing moderate to heavy rains in provinces that were flooded last week. The former tropical depression Lingling had weakened after triggering floods and landslides in 15 southern provinces, the bureau said. Eight people were still missing, the national disaster relief agency said. Eastern provinces badly devastated by Typhoon Haiyan in November were also experiencing heavy rains. The typhoon killed more than 6,000 people and displaced more than 4 million.
