Parliamentarians on Wednesday submitted nominations for the Central African Republic's new interim president, while the security situation in the conflict-ridden nation remained volatile, dpa reported. More than 40 people have been killed since interim president Michel Djotodia stepped down last week under international pressure, according to the United Nations. The country's 135 parliamentarians began the 10-day process of electing a new political leadership on Tuesday, led by National Transitional Council chairman Alexandre Ferdinand Nguende. About 2.2 million people - around half the population - need humanitarian aid, according to the UN.
