An antique sculpture that is one of the world's most wanted stolen artworks is being returned to India. The sandstone work is one of three sculptures worth at least $1.5 million being handed over to Indian diplomats Tuesday at a Manhattan, New York, ceremony. U.S. customs officials said that the artworks were part of a stash smuggled into the United States by an art dealer. Customs agents seized the pieces more than a year ago from a storage facility on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Officials said that is where gallery owner Subhash Kapoor kept the art. U.S. officials said that Kapoor created false provenances for the illicit antiquities. The dealer was arrested in 2011 in Germany and faces criminal charges in India.
