Thirteen people were killed in floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in the southern Philippines, dpa cited the national disaster relief agency officials as saying Monday. Some 132,000 people were also displaced by the floods in 10 provinces in the southern region of Mindanao, said Rey Balido, spokesman for the national disaster relief agency. He said five people died in a landslide in Davao Oriental province, while two drowned in floods and a swollen river. In nearby Compostela Valley, six people were also killed in floods and landslides, he added. The heavy rains were affecting provinces that were devastated by Typhoon Bopha in 2012, which killed more than 1,000 people.
