An explosion at a chemical plant in central Japan on Thursday killed five workers and injured 11, dpa cited broadcaster NHK as saying. The workers were scrapping a heat exchanger at the plant, NHK reported, citing officials at Mitsubishi Materials Corp, which runsthe factory. The explosion destroyed part of the plant in Yokkaichi city, 280 kilometres west of Tokyo, but the fire was contained, the report said.
