Upon directives of Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and General Supervisor of National Campaign for the Relief of Somali People, the campaign has effectively contributed, through the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), to the program of therapeutic food for malnourished children and those affected by the drought in Somalia. The campaign supported the organizing program with more than (SR 7,764,187) seven million, seven hundred sixty-four thousand, one hundred and eighty-seven Saudi riyals. About 72,000 children suffering from severe malnutrition in Somalia have benefited from program which helped also in the provision of vaccines, clean water and supplementary feeding through a variety of programs executing in Somalia . UNICEF has expressed its thanks and gratitude to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this support, which enabled it to go on in its works to provide life-saving assistance and meet the needs of Somali women and children.
