One death was reported in northern Italy, where storms brought strong winds and snow Thursday, while 48 people were injured in road accidents due to dense fog in Denmark, dpa reported. A French skier was killed in an avalanche on a mountain in Turin, Italy's ANSA news agency reported. Several skiers escaped other avalanches, the report said. Tens of thousands of people were affected by power outages caused by storms, with Piedmont and the winter sport resort of Cortinad' Ampezzo in the north-east Veneto region particularly affected. Rail and road transportation was also disrupted. Two motorists were reported injured in poor weather conditions in Lombardy. In Denmark, police said 48 people were injured in a series of road accidents in thick fog. Many of the accidents involving 85 vehicles took place on a highway in Jutland.
