Slovakia's presidential election will take place March 15, parliamentary speaker Pavol Paska said Thursday. If a candidate fails to achieve an absolute majority on that date, a runoff would be held March 29 between the two strongest candidates, Paska said. Thirteen candidates have put their names forward, among them the country's current Social Democrat Prime Minister Robert Fico, pegged as the most likely to succeed President Ivan Gasparovic.
