Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Cabinet adopted a new defense strategy calling for sharply higher spending as China expands its military, AP reported. As part of the new strategy, the government said it plans for more "proactive" security roles for the country's Self-Defense Forces abroad, Kyodo News reported. The strategy will also have new guidelines for arms exports.
