Two workers helping to build facilities for the World Cup in Brazil next year died on Saturday, dpa quoted news reports as saying. One 22-year-old man died in a local hospital of injuries sustained from a 35-metre fall at the Amazon Stadium, according to the G1 news portal and O Estado de Sao Paulo. The president of football's ruling body, Sepp Blatter, FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke, and Brazilian Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo expressed condolences at the man's death. A 49-year-old worker was also reported to have died of a heart attack on the construction site of a convention center adjoining the stadium. The Manaus stadium is to host four World Cup group games including England v Italy. It is to be completed by the end of the year. Less than three weeks ago, two workers died when a crane fell at the Sao Paulo stadium, destroying parts of the arena in the process. The Sao Paulo accident will delay stadium completion there by several months. The arena is to host among other games the World Cup opener between hosts Brazil and Croatia on June 12.
