A lorry driver died near Edinburgh on Thursday when his vehicle overturned as a result of a severe storm hitting Scotland and other parts of Britain, packing winds of up to 228 kilometers per hour. Four others were injured as a result of the accident, which saw the lorry toppling on to a number of other cars on a road in the Edinburgh-adjacent region of West Lothian. Around 100,000 homes were left without power across Scotland, with the country's rail network suspended indefinitely. Motorists were warned not to drive due to the strong winds and falling branches.
