At least eight people were killed when a police helicopter crashed through the roof of a crowded music pub in Glasgow, Scottish police said on Saturday as rescuers moved away the rubble, dpa reported. The helicopter's crew of three died and were found inside the aircraft. Five others died inside the Clutha Bar, a flat-roofed pub on the bank of the Clyde River where about 120 people were listening to a live band. Why the EC-135 helicopter hit the single-storey building remains unclear. Experts said it was possible the Eurocopter, which was carrying two police officers and a civilian pilot, had a technical problem. An aviation expert, Chris Yates, said the helicopter was seven years old. Police said 32 people injured in the crash were taken to hospitals across the city.
