Interior Ministry Arrests 875 Persons Accused of Involvement in Smuggling, Transfer of Drugs

The Security Spokesman of the Interior Ministry said that the ministry had arrested 875 drug smugglers and traffickers including 231 Saudis during a fourth quarter of 1434H.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the security spokesman said the arrested criminals had attempted to smuggle various types of drugs worth SR 1.087.647.878.
The ministry added that 13 were injured and one died among the security men while 3 killed and 4 injured among the smugglers.
The forces seized 3.4 kg of heroin, 6.7 tons of hashish and 10.951.135 amphetamine pills.
The security men have also seized cash worth SR 6.892.198.
The spokesman commended the efforts of border guards, customs officers and other security agents in preventing drug smuggling and arresting drug traffickers.
