At least one soldier died and three were wounded in car bombing in Kabul on Saturday. "The bomber rammed his car into an army armoured vehicle, in which one soldier died and three others were wounded," said Dawlat Waziri,a Defence Ministry spokesman. The Interior Ministry, however, said the vehicle was being pursued as it fled a police checkpoint in front of Burhanuddin Rabbani Education University, and it exploded after police opened fire. Witnesses said they had seen more than 10 people - most of them civilians, possibly university students - dead and scores injured at the scene. Local news channels broadcast footage of several civilian cars destroyed in the attack. The bombing took place in western Kabul, about 500 metres from the site where a Loya Jirga (Grand Assembly) to discuss the bilateral security agreement between Kabul and Washington is set to run Thursday through Sunday.
