Attacks Wednesday in northern and central Iraq killed 22 people and injured 25, Alsumaria television reported online, dpa reported. Eight people were killed and four injured when a suicide bomber in an explosive-laden vehicle blew himself up at a police checkpoint near Tikrit, 180 kilometres north of the capital Baghdad, the broadcaster said. In Baqouba, 57 kilometres north of Baghdad, three bombs hit a procession, killing five and injuring ten, Alsumaria reported. Four people were killed and 11 injured when two bombs went off at the house of a police officer in al-Karma, west of Baghdad, while 5 gunmen were killed when army forces returned fire on them after coming under attack in Nineveh in the north, the broadcaster said.
