The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stressed its strong commitment to energy management for a sustainable future, urging all parties participating in the 19th session of United Nations Framework Convention Conference on Climate Change being held in Warsaw, Poland on November 11-22, 2013 on working together to develop common guiding principles and procedures focusing on innovation, cooperation and investment. The delegation of the Kingdom to the Conference was headed by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi. In a press statement today, Minister Al-Naimi said that the Kingdom recognizes the challenges of providing sustainable energy for the world's increasing population and minimizing environmental impact and recognizes the need for global solutions in this regard, stressing the Kingdom's continuing efforts in search for effective strategies to reach a global agreement appropriate for all concerned parties which is characterized in its implementation by equity and taking into account the common but differentiated responsibilities to all parties. He said, "To stimulate action in this direction, we should accelerate the sustainable development plans for all countries with a focus on providing the necessary means for developing countries, taking into account the priorities and national circumstances to promote action on climate through the plans and solutions that can be implemented. The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources stressed that as Kingdom deeply realizes these challenges, it will continue to be a key factor in strengthening practical existing systems and building new systems to manage energy for a sustainable future.
