Asad continues using his weapon randomly against the opposition to kill innocent men, children and women. He pointed out that the United States appreciates the statement issued last night by the Arab League, encouraging the National Coalition and the Syrian opposition to go to Geneva. He also said that there is no disagreement on the objectives agreed upon by all of us regarding Syria; and as I said many times previously, Al-Asad has lost all legitimacy and must step down. There must be a transitional authority in order to bring peace and end human suffering. We do not believe that there can be a way to end this war and end the suffering with the existence of Al-Asad. On his visit to Egypt, Kerry said that his country is committed to supporting Egypt in its movement forward in this period of transition towards democracy.
