AlHijjah 29, 1434, Nov 3, 2013, SPA -- Iraqi authorities say shooting and bombings, including a suicide car bomb, have killed five members of security forces. According to AP, police officials say the first attack took place Sunday night when a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into a police checkpoint in Tal Afar town, killing two policemen and wounding three civilian passers-by. Tal Afar is 420 kilometers (260 miles) northwest of Baghdad. Later on, two soldiers were killed when their checkpoint came under attack by gunmen in the northern city of Mosul, said local authorities. Also, police said an army officer was killed when a roadside bomb struck his convoy in an area just south of Baghdad. Medical officials confirmed the casualty figures. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they weren't authorized to release information.
