AlHijjah 19, 1434, Oct 24, 2013, SPA -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met here today with European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton. During the meeting, President Abbas briefed Ashton on the latest developments in Palestine and the progress of the ongoing negotiations with Israel, stressing the importance of implementing EU guidelines related to illegal settlements Israel has build in the occupied territories as scheduled at the beginning of next year, WAFA reported. President Abbas praised EU policies regarding settlements, which he said are consistent with international law.
