AlHijjah 17, 1434, Oct 22, 2013, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues. Locally, Alyoum and Almadinah newspapers hailed the Saudi position rejecting a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council as expression of discontent by Arab and Islamic peoples over failures of the Security Council to deal properly and fairly with Arab and Islamic issues especially the Palestinian cause. Regionally, Alsharq and Okaz newspapers commented on the Syrian crisis and criticized the Geneva 2 conference saying that the conference would be a waste of time, while Alwatan newspaper commented on the situation in Egypt saying that facing terrorism may take a long time. Finally, Alriyadh newspaper lamented the violence in the Arab region and called for pan-Arab unity.
