AlHijjah 16, 1434, Oct 21, 2013, SPA -- U.S. President Barack Obama looks forward to meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the White House Wednesday, White House spokesman Jay Carney said Monday. "The prime minister's official visit comes as we are strengthening U.S.-Pakistan relations," Carney told reporters during his daily press briefing. "Ahead of the leaders' meeting, the prime minister will see the State Department, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Treasury and the U.S. trade representative." "These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss concrete cooperation on issues of mutual concern, such as energy, trade and economic development, regional stability and of course countering violent extremism. We want to advance our shared interest of a stable, secure and prosperous Pakistan that is contributing to regional and international security and prosperity. We want to find ways for our countries to cooperate, even as we have differences on some issues. And we want to make sure that the trajectory of this relationship is a positive one," Carney said.
