AlHijjah 1, 1434, Oct 6, 2013, SPA -- A small plane has crashed off an outlying Puerto Rican island and the single occupant has been killed. According to AP, police say the twin-engine plane was headed from the tiny island of Culebra to an airport on the U.S. island's mainland early Sunday when it crashed into the sea. The pilot's body has been recovered by a police maritime unit who located a small debris field of fuselage. Police say the plane belonged to Air Flamenco and the pilot worked for the tiny carrier. Based in Puerto Rico's capital of San Juan, Air Flamenco does scheduled routes within the U.S. island and charter flights to the Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and St. Maarten. The dead man's identity and the type of plane is not being immediately disclosed by authorities.
