AlQa'dah 29, 1434, Oct 5, 2013, SPA -- Vietnam's Communist Party on Saturday announced a national funeral next weekend for General Vo Nguyen Giap, a national hero from the First Indochina and Vietnam wars, in the first official acknowledgement of his death, according to dpa. The brilliant, self-taught military strategist who learned his craft in the jungles while fighting for independence from France is to lie in state October 12 in Hanoi and a memorial service and the burial would be held the following day, said the Office of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee. The service is to be held in Hanoi and the burial in Giap's central home province of Quang Binh, it said.
