AlQa'dah 27, 1434, October 03, 2013, SPA -- The international inspectors overseeing the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons program say they have made "encouraging initial progress" in their mission, AP reported. The joint team of experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the United Nations says documents handed over by the Syrian government "look promising" but "further analysis, particularly of technical diagrams, will be necessary and some more questions remain to be answered." The inspectors said in a statement Thursday that the team "hopes to begin onsite inspections and the initial disabling of equipment within the next week," but doing so depends on the work of technical groups established with Syrian experts. The inspectors arrived in Syria on Tuesday. -- SPA 21:13 LOCAL TIME 18:13 GMT تغريد
