AlQa'dah 24, 1434, Sep 30, 2013, SPA -- Residents say fighting has resumed between Malian soldiers and ethnic Tuareg separatist rebels in the northern town of Kidal, AP reported. The reports of Monday clashes come after the two sides exchanged gunfire in Kidal on Sunday. It marked the first such violence there since the rebels announced last week they were suspending participation in a peace accord signed with the government in June. Kidal resident Abdallah Ag Mossa told The Associated Press that after a lull in violence overnight fighting had resumed Monday morning near the same spot downtown. A member of the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Kidal confirmed that gunfire had resumed around 6 a.m.
