AlQa'dah 21, 1434, Sep 27, 2013, SPA -- Cuba plans to allow its athletes to sign for foreign clubs in the future, the Cuban Communist Party daily Granma reported Friday, according to dpa. Cooaches and other professionals active in the realm of sport will have similar status, in a move that apparently seeks to cash in on new sources of income. The planned reform of Cuban sport also establishes raises in the wages granted to high-performance sportspeople within Cuba. Speculation on such reform had been rife for months in communist Cuba. The island's authorities abolished professional sport in 1962. Since then, many top sportspeople have deserted the country to become professionally active particularly in the United States, and Cuban baseball players and boxers are particularly sought after. -- SPA 19:37 LOCAL TIME 16:37 GMT تغريد
