AlQa'dah 17, 1434, Sep 23, 2013, SPA -- Ten hostages remained trapped in a Nairobi, Kenya, mall Monday and dozens were missing in the third day of a standoff with heavily armed militants, UPI reported. Bursts of gunfire were heard inside the upscale Westgate Premier Shopping Mall overnight, as 10 to 15 militants were reported holed up with their hostages after killing what the Kenyan Red Cross said was at least 68 people, including at least one American, and injuring more than 175, including at least five Americans. The dead American was the wife of an employee of the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. officials cited by the BBC said. Also among the dead were three Britons, two Canadians including a diplomat, two French women and prominent Ghanaian poet Kofi Awoonor, their governments said. Others killed were from France, the Netherlands, India, China and South Africa, the BBC said.
