AlQa'dah 17, 1434, Sep 23, 2013, SPA -- At least 25 people have died after Typhoon Usagi swept across southern China's Guangdong province, while the storm left four people dead in the Philippines, officials said Monday, according to DPA. In China, around 226,000 were evacuated as the typhoon brought gales, torrential rain and floods that destroyed several thousand homes and affected some 3.6 million people in Guangdong, the Ministry of Civil Affairs reported. Provincial authorities issued a red alert, the highest level for coastal storms, as the typhoon made landfall Sunday evening with wind speeds of up to 162 kilometres per hour, the official Xinhua news agency said. In the Philippines, four bodies were recovered in a village hit by landslides near the town of Subic in the northern region of Zambales, Mayor Jay Khonghun was quoted as saying by ANC cable news channel.
