AlQa'dah 9, 1434, Sep 15, 2013, SPA -- Salustiano Sanchez, the world's oldest man, passed away at the age of 112 at a nursing home in western New York, UPI cited CNN reporting. Sanchez, who was born in Spain on June 8, 1901, died Friday of unreported causes. The 112-year-old was was named the world's oldest man by Guinness World Records in June after his predecessor, Jiroemon Kimura, died in western Japan earlier that month. Kimura was 116. Sanchez moved to Cuba before coming to the United States in 1920 to work at coal mines in Kentucky. He later relocated to the Niagara Falls area of New York and got married in 1934. In his statement to the Guinness World Records after he was named world's oldest man, Sanchez said he did not feel accomplished for being old. He also once said that his longevity is due to eating a banana every day. Sanchez is survived by two children, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The oldest person to every live was Jeanne Louise Calment of France, who died at the age of 122. Misao Okawa, of Japan, is the world's oldest living woman at 115 years old.
