AlQa'dah 8, 1434, Sep 14, 2013, SPA -- A suicide bomber killed 27 people in northern Iraq on Saturday when he blew himself up at a funeral, according to media reports citing security officials. At least 48 people were injured in the blast in Mosul, the main city of the mostly Sunni province of Nineweh, independent broadcaster Alsumaria TV reported. Also in Nineweh, one civilian was killed and his two sons were injured when gunmen attacked them, said police. Twenty-eight "wanted terrorists" were Saturday detained in a security crackdown in the volatile province, according to Alsumaria TV. The United Nations said that 1,057 people were killed in July, the deadliest month in more than five years, while at least 916 civilians were killed in August.
