Runway at Bangkok airport to reopen after three-day closure

AlQa'dah 5, 1434, Sep 11, 2013, SPA -- The eastern runway of Bangkok's SuvarnabhumiAirport was scheduled to be reopened for flights midnight Wednesday(1700 GMT) after a three-day closure caused by an accident on the tarmac, according to a local media report.
On Sunday, slightly before midnight, a Thai Airways International(THAI) flight from China skidded on the runway after landing, causing one engine to catch fire and blocking the tarmac to other flights as the aircraft awaited removal.
Some 14 people were injured in the accident.
THAI announced Wednesday evening that the Airbus A330-300 aircraft had been successfully removed, making it possible to repair the minor damage on the runway, The Nation newspaper reported.
Hundreds of flights faced slight delays during the past three days as the capital's main international airport was reduced to using one runway.
An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the mishap.
