Microsoft Corp is to buy the core business of mobile phone company Nokia Corp for 5.44 billion euros (7.2 billion dollars), the companies said Tuesday, according to DPA. The deal will consist of 3.79 billion euros for the Devices and Services divisions of Finnish-based Nokia, and 1.65 billion euros for Nokia's patents. Nokia was the world's leading mobile phone maker until smartphones from Apple and various companies that used Google's Android operating system overtook it. The Nokia share price soared 46 per cent when trading opened on the Helsinki bourse.
