Almost 4,200 firefighters made progress overnight against a massive wildfire in California's Yosemite National Forest, surrounding 23 per cent of the blaze with containment lines, officials said Wednesday according to dpa. The fire, which broke out near the world famous park on August 17, has now burned more than 75,000 hectares and destroyed more than 111 structures, according to Cal-Fire, the state fire fighting agency. The fire is also threatening the water and electrical supplies to the San Francisco bay area as ash pollutes the reservoir that is a major source of water for the metropolis' 2.6 million residents. -- SPA 23:19 LOCAL TIME 20:19 GMT تغريد
