A suicide bomber blew himself up close to a NATO convoy Wednesday in southern Afghanistan, an official said, adding there were thought to be casualties, DPA reported. "The incident took place in front of the provincial police chief office in Lashkargah city," capital of Helmand province, the governor's spokesman Amar Zwak said. There were indications of casualties, but the number was not clear, he said. A watermelon vendor near the scene said he saw five people killed and three injured. Some of the dead and injured were civilians, and others wore uniforms, Hafiz Ahmadi said, but he could not tell whether those were NATO soldiers.
