At least six people died and 19 were injured Tuesday when a two-storey building collapsed in Brazil's Sao Mateus, an impoverished suburb of Sao Paulo, dpa reported. A 60-member team was trying to rescue at least six more people believed to be trapped in the rubble, the Fire Department said. For about three months there has been construction work in the building, which collapsed at about 0835 am (1135 GMT). Fire Department spokesman Marcos Palumbo said the cause of the collapse was under investigation "but there is evidence that something did not go well during those works." Palumbo told the TV channel GloboNews that there was a "structural collapse."
