The United Nations' human rights chief arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday to assess the situation before reporting to the U.N.'s rights council next month on the government's progress in investigating alleged war crimes during the country's civil war, according to AP. During her seven-day visit to Sri Lanka, Navi Pillay will meet with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and human rights activists. She'll also visit the country's former war zone in the north and east, where thousands of ethnic Tamil civilians were allegedly killed as the quarter-century war ended in 2009.
