A 9-year-old boy in Cambodia who was diagnosed with bird flu has died, marking the country's 10th death from the disease this year, UPI quoted health officials as saying. The boy, who died Monday night, carried sick and dead ducks and chickens for food preparation in an area where the poultry were infected by the H5N1 virus, The Phnom Penh Post reported. He developed a fever on July 26 and his condition quickly deteriorated. The Ministry of Health said there have been 16 reported cases of the bird flu. "We are very concerned over the unusual increase in cases. If you look at previous trends, peak time typically occurs during the dry season from November through February," Sonny Krishnan, communications officer for the World Health Organization, said. The latest cases involves a five-year-old girl, who is expected to be released from the hospital soon.
