Twelve people are still missing after a landslide occurred in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Saturday, local authorities said on Sunday. The landslide occurred at around 5 p.m. Saturday on Huangping Village, Huanghua Township of Yongshan County. About 120,000 cubic meters of mud, rocks and debris were estimated tumbling into the Jinsha River, which triggered huge waves and caused damages in Kahaluo Township, Leibo County of the neighboring Sichuan Province, Xinhua quoted the publicity department of Yongshan County as saying. Four missing people are natives of Yunnan, and another eight people are from Sichuan, the department said. More than 300 local officials, public security police, firefighters, militiamen and villagers have taken part in the searching and rescue works. On Sunday morning, another landslide occurred in Dalian City, northeast China's Dalian Province, burying six people. Geological disasters have been frequently reported around China this summer due to heavy rains.
