France's Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault was to arrive in Malaysia on the weekend, the first French head of government to visit the predominantly Islamic South-East Asian country in more than three decades, dpa quoted officials as saying Friday. Ayrault was scheduled to meet with Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak and other senior officials during his two-day official visit from Sunday, Malaysia's foreign ministry said. Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy was the last French leader to visit Malaysia in December 1982.
