UN Secretary General's Advisor and envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar left Sanaa today following an official visit to Yemen during which he was briefed on the latest developments at the Yemeni arena. Benomar's several-day visit to Yemen comes within the United Nations plan to have a thorough report on the political process in Yemen to be presented to the UN Security Council later. During meetings with several Yemeni political figures, Benomar was trying to pave the way for the meeting of Yemen's Friends Conference scheduled to take place on the fringes of the UN General Assembly in September 2013.
