North Korea is putting off talks with South Korea on a proposal to reunite families separated since the Korean War, dpa quoted the South Korean Ministry of Unification as saying Thursday. The proposal to restart a family reunion programme under the auspices of the Red Cross was made by Pyongyang on Wednesday as part of fresh talks between the sides to ease tensions on the Peninsula, the Yonhap news agency reported. Also put on ice was a plan to restore a single South Korean sightseeing tour to the Mount Kumgang resort, located just across the border. North Korea now says the focus of talks with Seoul should be focused on the reopening of the Kaesong joint industrial complex, which was idled three months ago amid escalating threats by Pyongyang.
