Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mo'allemi called Wednesday on UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to more forcefully speak out on the plight of Muslims in Myanmar, who are being killed and attacked throughout the country. He said that "Myanmar is having a honeymoon with the world but the only problem is that honeymoon is being built on the bodies of the Muslim victims throughout the country." "The world cannot be taken away by the progress on democratic values if those democratic values do not include giving full rights to the Muslim population in Myanmar," Ambassador Al-Mo'allemi said at a press conference after meeting with Ban Ki-moon and other Arab envoys who were raising the plight of Myanmar's Muslim population. "We called on the secretary-general to interfere, to make his voice heard more loudly," he said.
