The Philippine vice president says China has told him not to make a planned trip to Beijing to make a final appeal to President Xi Jinping to spare the life of a Filipino woman who faces imminent execution on drug charges, AP reported. Vice President Jejomar Binay says he was told by the Chinese Foreign Ministry that it would not be convenient for him to visit China at this time. Binay had planned to leave Sunday for Beijing to deliver a letter by Philippine President Benigno Aquino III appealing to Xi to commute the death sentence of the 35-year-old woman to life imprisonment. The woman was arrested at the Hangzhou International Airport in January 2011 and was later convicted of drug-related charges.
