Faisal underscored the importance of changing the power balance at the Syrian front in favor of the free Syrian people which he considered the only way to enhance chances of peaceful solution, a major goal of Geneva 2 forthcoming conference. He lauded the U.S. decision to send military assistance to the Syrian free army and expressed satisfaction over what he has heard from the U.S. Secretary of State to keep a power edge in favor of the free Syrian army and recognize the National Coalition as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people. He also lauded the EU decision to lift embargo of arming the Syrian opposition, calling on the EU to start implementing this decision in view of the new serious developments at the Syrian arena. Prince Saud Al-Faisal said he reviewed with the U.S. Secretary General the Israeli Palestinian dispute and the current efforts to revive the peace process through negotiations, noting that Saudi Arabia suggests that the talks should focus on the major issues in view of the failure of the previous rounds of talks, particularly that there are bases for the projected solution based on the international legitimacy, several agreements and memos of understanding and the Arab Peace Initiative aiming to reach an independent viable Palestinian state. He availed himself of the opportunity to congratulate Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on ascending the throne of Qatar and send appreciation to Tamim's father Prince Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the out-going Emir of Qatar, for the efforts he exerted during his tenure to develop his country and his keenness to forge fraternal ties with Saudi Arabia and serve the whole region, wishing Qatar continuous prosperity and progress. --More 19:52 LOCAL TIME 16:52 GMT تغريد
