One person was killed and thousands evacuated from their homes in south-west France, where storms caused several rivers to burst their banks, authorities said Wednesday. Torrential rains and rising temperatures that have melted snow in the Pyrenees mountains have caused some of the worst flooding in the region in 30 years. The Pyrenees-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrenees areas were on "red" alert for flooding, according to DPA.
