A series of deadly blasts rocked Iraq Monday killing at least 40 people and wounding dozens, news agencies quoted the Iraqi National News Agency as reporting. Late Monday, at least 21 people were killed when five blasts hit the northern cities of Mosul, Tikrit and Tuz Khurmato, the agency said. A similar bomb blast also exploded in the town of Taji, north of Baghdad, killing at least nine people, it added. The evening blasts came after ten people were killed and 30 were injured when three car bombs exploded earlier Monday in a village north of Baghdad, local media reported. The blasts hit a vegetable market in Judaidat al-Shatt in central Diyali province, the al-Sumaria news channel reported online quoting police sources. Over 1,000 Iraqis, the vast majority civilians, were killed in attacks in May, according to the United Nations.
